Alice Drablow is the sister of Jennett Humfrye. She lived at Eel Marsh House for her whole life. It all began when her sister Jennet gave birth to a child named Nathaniel. She and Jennet have correspondences with each other. Jennet was mentally unfit to take care of Nathaniel so Alice formally adopted him. When Alice was coming home to Eel marsh House across the causeway the horse lost its footing by carrying a carriage with Alice and Nathaniel. They were thrown into the marsh and Jennet saw this happen from the nursery. The carriage sank fast with Nathaniel. Alice knew she could not save him from drowning in the marsh. Due to the loss of Nathaniel, Jennet blamed Alice for leaving Nathaniel to die in the marsh. After a while, Jennet died of a wasting disease in the nursery. Just before she died, she wrote on the wall of the nursery with her blood, 'You could have saved him.' Alice later on died from old age.
